STEAM, AIR, AND HOT WATER EDITION

Nanobubble Generator Makes The Grade With Big 10 University

The Armstrong Nanobubble Generator has earned high marks with a Big 10 University. The customer had a long-standing problem with a hot water system in their student residence halls that was caused by a buildup of scale. As a result, the facility engineers had to perform a Clean-in-Place on their heat exchangers every three months or so. We presented the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator as an enhancement to help the customer reduce scale buildup as well as reduce the frequency of cleaning the heat exchangers thereby saving time and money.

In May of 2024, the staff of the university decided to complete a trial run of the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator in one of the dorms. The Nanobubble Generator was installed, and the team led by Hank Lenzen along with the customer returned in August and again in January 2025 to inspect the system. The heat exchanger two pass head was removed, and the heat exchanger was found to be clean and there was no scale buildup. The Armstrong Brains® were also removed and inspected and likewise, there was no scale buildup, and it was clean and operating as expected.

As the image shows, the scale buildup in the hot water piping from the heat exchanger to The Brain® was significantly reduced within three months of the installation and further reduced after 8 months. The benefits of the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator are clear – less energy used and a consistent flow of hot water.

If you’re still on the fence wondering if the Armstrong Nanobubble Generator is the solution for scale buildup, don’t wait! The results are in, and we have a host of sales tools and support that’s available in the Armstrong User Portal to help you convince anyone who may be a skeptic.

Leverage The Total Package To Increase Sales And Margins

When you focus on solving a customer’s problem instead of just replacing a steam coil, you’ll find opportunities to increase your sales and margins by adding Outer Casings and proper Condensate and Supply Piping to the offering. This was the case with a customer whose existing installation was horrible because they had very limited space to do the job right. Working with the customer, the Armstrong Heat Transfer Group used 3D modeling to propose an unexpected solution that gave them confidence that we could solve their problem. Our collaboration with the local representative put us head and shoulders above the competition.

PT-300 Series Replacement Cap Discontinued

After more than 25 years, the “old style” replacement cap assembly for the PT-300 series mechanical pumps is being retired. These replacement cap assemblies were exclusively for pumps built in the early 1990’s. The current PT-300 series design should provide a suitable replacement in almost all cases, with some slight dimensional differences. Please visit the Armstrong website for more details on the current PT-300 pump design.
