STEAM, AIR, AND HOT WATER EDITION

VA Hospital Selects Rada Digital Faucet

The Salt Lake City VA Healthcare system, under an existing contract with US2 (Utility Systems Solutions, Inc.) for campus wide Legionella upgrades, is replacing 200+ recently installed traditional healthcare faucets with Armstrong Rada Digital Faucets.

Energy West Controls, US2 and the Armstrong Hot Water Group, participated in regular onsite and virtual meetings with the Salt Lake City VA since mid-last year. Through these interactions, the VA was able to substantiate the need to make the change via a change order to include both parts and labor for faucets and electrical infrastructure upgrades.

The Veterans Hospital facility and infection control personnel determined that the Armstrong Rada Digital Faucets met the performance requirements of VA Directive 1061. Once they realized the power of the Rada Digital Faucet and its superior performance capabilities in comparison to the traditional faucets installed, the change order was initiated. Through careful negotiations between US2 and the VA, an equitable change order was issued to remove the existing faucets and add power to the locations where there was no previous line voltage power. This enabled them to harness the power of the Rada Digital Faucet solution.

The VA was impressed by the Rada Digital Faucet and its fully automated flushing and monitoring capability that enables them to precisely control when, where and how much they flush each tap. This feature promotes water and energy savings as well as fights against waterborne pathogens such as legionella and pseudomonas.

This project is a great testament to our local Rep’s engagement and the relationship we have developed with US2. All Rep’s are encouraged to seek out US2 in their pursuit of VA opportunities as they were instrumental in negotiating this great project. Please contact Addison Sander, CEM and Director of Sales & Operations at US2 at (214) 504-2975, or Rick LaRose with the Armstrong Hot Water Group at (719) 367-9722 to learn how to engage with your local VA Hospital to help them meet their water safety goals!

New Rep Onboarding and Orientation

Has your organization hired new Representatives? Or, has a current Representative changed jobs or perhaps retired? We like to keep our records neat and clean, but we need your help. When there are changes in your organization, please use this form to keep our business systems updated.

When a new Representative registers, they will automatically be enrolled in Armstrong's Rep Orientation. The rep will be assigned a username and password to access the Armstrong User Portal and Armstrong University as well as be added to our email distribution lists. Please allow up to 24 hours for a new rep account to be created.

You can also use the form to essentially "remove" a departing Representative from Armstrong's records as well. We appreciate your help in ensuring we always have the most up-to-date contact information for your company. If you have any questions or need help in updating your organization's records, please contact us now.

As our business grows, naturally so does yours. To fortify our partnership and reinforce our support, we have reenergized and restructured our existing Rep onboarding program to better serve new representatives as they begin their selling journey.

Armstrong’s Rep Orientation will include a targeted Armstrong University® curriculum built specifically for Reps supported by Virtual Knowledge “Check Ups”. Once complete, collaborative in-field mentoring will follow ensuring you can apply knowledge to practice on customer calls.

Pressure Fog Discontinued

The Armstrong Pressure Fog product offering has been discontinued and will no longer be offered in North America. This decision was initially made because of supply chain complications but also because EvaPack™ is a better choice. While High Pressure Atomization (HPA) Systems always require RO/DI water to preclude clogging of the nozzles as well as the elimination of “dusting” downstream, EvaPack can be applied with all water types and provides a superior end user experience when supplied with high purified water such as Reverse Osmosis or Deionization.

Unlike HPA systems that regularly see 20 to 40 percent of costly purified water wasted to a floor drain, there is no water waste with EvaPack CPT because 100 percent of the high purified water is evaporated into the airstream. Similar to HPA systems, EvaPack can be designed into ducted or air handler systems with only 24” of lineal distance for a complete change of state to a gaseous water vapor. The result is a substantial material savings and a reduced length in air handling equipment. The elimination of the positive displacement pump required with HPA systems, and the associated maintenance required, provide additional savings. EvaPack humidifiers have many benefits when compared to HPA systems in both duct and air handler applications. EvaPack offers reduced installation time, lower maintenance costs, a substantial reduction in wasted water, all while maintaining the control necessary for the most demanding applications. EvaPack CPT is unique in its ability to be applied with DI/RO water and allows for it to be a viable humidification or cooling option in all instances where HPA is currently being applied or considered.

HumidiClean™ Upgrades Now Include Drain Tempering

The HumidiClean™ (HC) electric resistive humidifier recently received some welcome upgrades. The latest production model of the HumidiClean line will now include integral drain tempering capability. Drain tempering has previously required the addition of the Temp-R-Drain priced separately and installed externally. Integrated drain tempering allows for discharge water below 140.0°F that complies with plumbing code for all drain piping materials. This feature will meet all specifications that call for internal drain tempering and will allow for HumidiClean to be more cost competitive in all instances. Additionally, we will soon discontinue the two separate 2” outlet piping connections on models HC6500 and HC6700. Once current inventory is depleted, these models will be provided with a single 4” flanged connection for a more simplified supply piping arrangement. This will be welcome news to both design engineers and installing contractors.
