New Surcharge on Stainless Steel Steam Filter Housings

Effective immediately, Armstrong will be implementing a 30% surcharge on new quotes and orders for our entire line of stainless-steel steam filter housings.

After carefully analyzing the constantly increasing cost of stainless-steel materials, coupled with its decreased availability, the expectation is that both will continue in their respective directions into the foreseeable future.

For new/future quotes or orders, this surcharge will need to be added immediately. For previous quotes, this surcharge will take effect as of June 1, 2022, which will require a purchase order in hand no later than May 27, 2022 by 4:00 PM EDT, accompanied by the original quote communication. It does not affect any orders that have already been placed and/or awaiting shipment. With this in mind, we would recommend that you reach out to all existing/outstanding bids with an effort to close them out and obtain an order.

We will continue to monitor the various markets and industries with the hope that this surcharge will only be temporary. We’ll communicate any changes to this fee as they occur. Please feel free to reach out to Jeremiah Mastny, Steam Filtration Product Manager, with any questions or concerns on existing quotes/bids you may have within this product line.

Showers Are Nothing To Fear At Gettysburg Hotel

The Gettysburg Hotel was established in 1797 and is in the heart of downtown historic Gettysburg, PA – one of America’s most haunted cities. Rachel, a civil war nurse who cared for wounded soldiers, is believed to roam the hotel, along with other civil war era ghosts.

Besides being known for its ghostly apparitions, the Gettysburg Hotel has a tradition of hospitality and top-notch customer service. The 9,000+ square foot hotel has 119 rooms and suites along with meeting rooms and a grand ballroom – all designed with the needs of the modern traveler in mind. In addition to the hotel’s many amenities, guests can expect a consistent, safe and comfortable shower experience – thanks to the recent installation of the Armstrong DRV40!

Many thanks to Associated Steam and Dave Campbell for not being too frightened to bring an old, haunted hotel into the digital age!

Leader Of The Pack

Great Wolf Lodge is an 80,000 square foot indoor water park and dry-land adventure resort located in Grapevine, TX. It opened in 2007 and a major $11 million dollar renovation was completed in 2018 encompassing all 605 guest rooms. While the resort looks phenomenal, the domestic hot water system wasn’t meeting guest demands for hot water in a timely fashion. Great Wolf Lodge wanted to be the lead dog when it comes to guest satisfaction, so it reached out to John Johnson from Hatfield to help solve their problems.

John along with Hatfield's ATM, Daniel Lloyd, worked with the facilities team from Great Wolf Lodge to develop a plan to provide five (5) new Brain Model DMC50 packages with integral plate and frame heat exchangers (PHE) along with one (1) DMC40BN and one (1) DMC50-50BN to provide precise delivery of domestic hot water to all 605 guestrooms as well as the laundry and kitchen. The project was worth $150,000 and soon, the domestic hot water will perform as great as the resort looks. The addition of the “on board” PHE represents our vision that a zoned system design is the future of the commercial /institutional plumbing system. It is all detailed in our Pipe Up reference guide.

The Armstrong Hot Water Group has performed many successful installations including our flagship project, the MGM National Harbor – another project led by Dave Campbell with installation by Associated Steam. View the MGM National Harbor project folder for complete details and check out the previously released launch package on our DMC with the PHE integrated system solution.

Conduct Thermal Assessments And Win An iPad

Thermal Assessments are a great way to uncover opportunities to improve the performance and efficiency of steam, hot water, and condensate systems as well as the safety, reliability, and integrity of the customer’s overall system. As an added incentive, Armstrong will give a new Apple iPad to the representative that generates the most Thermal Assessments between now and June 15, 2022. Please submit your assessments to Nevena Iordanova by June 15th and we’ll notify the winner via email as the reports are tallied.

Armstrong Steam Board And Trap Demo Station Helps Train Students

FW Webb Company – Process Controls Division (PCD), has been working with a local technical school – Kennebec Valley Community College – to offer a high-pressure boiler operator class for the state of Maine certification. PCD brought the Armstrong steam board to the class a few years ago and the college came back to PCD to help set-up a lab. PCD’s Corey Post worked out a deal for them to take the trap demo station that was removed from Three Rivers a few years ago. They plan to install it with a small electric boiler this fall. In return, PCD will have a standing invitation each semester to teach the students about steam traps and other topics during the course. Once the boiler and trap station are live, PCD will be able to conduct UMT/SAGE demonstrations for the students. The class trains about 20-40 students annually who are typically already employed by companies operating high-pressure boilers in Maine. Corey Post will be on hand to help get the system running and conduct the seminars.
