Price Increase Reminder

As announced last month, Armstrong anticipates that a price increase will be coming for certain product groups and product lines effective May 2. After carefully analyzing increased materials and supplies costs and availability, we expect an increase from 7 to 10 percent for the Steam and Condensate Group, Humidification Group, Hot Water Group and VERIS Flow Measurement Group. Please note that the Armstrong Heat Transfer Group will not implement an additional price increase at this time. New Price Books will be distributed later this month.

Armstrong ABH COMBI Delivers Cost Savings For Hilton

The Hilton Garden Inn and Home2 Suites in Kalamazoo, MI recently installed an Armstrong ABH COMBI system that supplies the hotel with domestic hot water and hydronic fluid used for building heat. The COMBI system eliminated concerns with the area’s water quality and will save labor, plumbing, and electrical costs.

The system was originally designed to utilize two boilers and eight water heaters installed across three separate mechanical rooms. Armstrong configured the ABH COMBI system so that the entire unit could be installed in one mechanical room. This configuration frees up valuable space that can be used for other purposes.

The installed system features eight ABH 600 MBH units and includes redundant heat exchangers for domestic hot water. A 500-gallon tank supplies 160° F water directly to the hotel’s laundry facilities. Two back-to-back Armstrong Digital Mixing Centers service the rest of the hotel – a DMC40 provides the kitchen and bar with 140° F water, and a DMC80 delivers 125° water to guest rooms and other faucets throughout the hotel.

A Natural Fit

Affiliated Steam wanted to upgrade its low-efficiency (81%) atmospheric boilers used to heat its warehouse in Alsip, IL. A high efficiency condensing solution would result in energy savings and who better to turn to than Armstrong?

Affiliated Steam selected an Armstrong ABH boiler package and system separator. This package was configured to fit within the allotted space in the warehouse and has a much smaller footprint than the prior system. Affiliated Steam plans to use the extra space for training purposes during sales schools.

Three existing 400 MBH boilers were replaced by three ABH 399 MBH boilers. The system separator that was installed allowed the existing pump to continue operating as it always had, without any interruption from the new units. The new ABH package is capable of a 15:1 turndown ratio, which maximizes the system’s efficiency.

What’s All The Buzz About?

Burleson’s Honey processing facility in Waxahachie, TX had a 300 MBH low-efficiency water heater that was built in 1985. The heater was past the end of its life – leaking and performing inconsistently. These issues caused disruptions to Burleson’s processing operations.

The aged heater was originally provided by GC Evans, a longtime partner of Armstrong International. When Burleson’s decided a new heater was in order, GC Evans recommended that they consult Armstrong for an upgrade.

Armstrong replaced the old unit with a high-efficiency ABH 299 unit and system separator. Burleson’s plant had some unique space restrictions too, but Armstrong was able to configure the ABH package to fit perfectly into the old heater’s footprint. The ABH 299 provides adequate heating capacity for Burleson’s processing needs – and then some – thanks to the high efficiency and BTU output of the ABH unit.

Corteva Agriscience Conducts Everactive Trial

Merlo sold a trial to Corteva Agriscience in Midland, MI. For this trial, around 50 Eversensors will be installed, and the steam traps will be under a 1-year monitoring period.

Typically, a trial is 90 days and covers around 50 steam traps in an area covered by a gateway and installation is performed by Everactive to serve as a training opportunity for your team. All data are collected in a free SAGE trial account for analysis and reporting. Insight sessions are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly with the customer to assess the system and highlight potential savings. After the trial, a summary of findings is provided to evaluate the ROI and capabilities of the monitoring service. Please contact Philippe Moock if you have any questions.

Conduct Thermal Assessments And Win An iPad

Thermal Assessments are a great way to uncover opportunities to improve the performance and efficiency of steam, hot water, and condensate systems as well as the safety, reliability, and integrity of the customer’s overall system. As an added incentive, Armstrong will give a new Apple iPad to the representative that generates the most Thermal Assessments between now and June 15, 2022. Please submit your assessments to Nevena Iordanova by June 15th and we’ll notify the winner via email as the reports are tallied.
