Be Our Guest at the Renewable Thermal Collaborative Summit - Sept. 29 & 30th

As a corporate member of the Renewable Thermal Collaborative (RTC), the leading global coalition for organizations that are committed to scaling up renewable heating and cooling, Armstrong is a Platform Sponsor for this year’s virtual
Renewable Thermal Collaborative Summit: Collaborate, Accelerate, Decarbonize.

The virtual conference will be held on September 29 & 30th. RTC has pulled together a variety of leading sustainability experts from PepsiCo, Stanley Black & Decker and Roche and Energy Analysts from GreenBiz Group and David Gardiner and Associates. Our very own CEO, Doug Bloss, will give opening remarks to kick off the event. Prathamesh Ternikar is also on the agenda presenting Armstrong’s roadmap approach to decarbonization, which are marked by three major milestones: minimization of energy use, optimization of efficiency, and total decarbonization of energy sources. Ternikar will share these milestones in more detail, all backed by a memorable case study.

In addition to Doug and Prathamesh’s presentations, Armstrong will also host a virtual, interactive booth, where attendees can learn more about the our repeatable process and working with partners to optimize, minimize, and decarbonize. The summit will engage on a range of topics across technology, markets, and policy, all with a focus on accelerating renewable thermal solutions and decarbonizing thermal energy use so we think you’ll be interested in joining us.

Hear from Armstrong during PHCPPros' webinar series today at 1:00 PM CDT.

Join our very own Dan Tomlison for a live webinar:
A Leading Edge Perspective on DHW System Design in a Continuously Recirculating World System.

Taking place TODAY at 1 p.m. CDT, this free, live webinar will continue PHCP Pros' webinar series. Click here to register for the webinar. We invite you to share with customers and consulting engineers in your territory.

What to expect.
This quick and concise visual road trip through the past, present and future will bring attendees clarity to the journey of digitally controlling the delivery setpoint of domestic hot water systems in the presence of continuous recirculation. Control, monitoring and reporting that can now be achieved from the mechanical room to every point of use.

Another Intelligent Solution For Higher Education!

Wellesley College in Massachusetts has a legacy spanning 151 years. So, it just made sense that when faced with a challenging hot water generation retrofit, they turned to Armstrong – another institution with a long, 121-year legacy of intelligent solutions for steam, air, and hot water.

The problem that inspired the need for critical thinking was to replace two very large heat exchangers delivering to a TMV station, all housed in a very small mechanical room with angled walls. Within that limited space, it had to serve a high-temp kitchen and laundry zone, and a low-temp sinks and showers zone – with redundancy!

A confined space, redundancy and two-temp complexity were coupled with the need to remove the old and install the new with minimal disruption of hot water service to their resident students.

Ari Cassarino, Professor of Hot Water for the Process Controls Division (PCD) of F. W. Webb, delivered his dissertation of the situation to the Hot Water Group and a syllabus of the site design conditions and expectations was established. Conceptual views of different approaches were created then shared for consideration, and the hypothesis of “There is no way to make this work” was proven to be wrong.

The capstone was an FRT665PH40R140F Two-Temp featuring the modular construction conceived by Senior CAD Designer Valedictorian, Tony Hooley. The three-skid assembly would allow the college to remove just one of the large heaters and leave just enough room for one FRT665 and a compact DMC40. The second FRT665 could be brought in and easily connected to the first after the second existing heater and TMV station were removed. Another intelligent solution delivered with High Honors.

Temporary Heating Options For Winter Operation

It’s September and still hot, but remember last winter when even the south froze? Cold weather is right around the corner so don’t be caught off guard this year. Now is the time to reach out to your HPI/CPI/Food/Pharma or other customers who need a quick, safe, and portable way to supply temporary heat to keep workers comfortable and systems running smoothly – and to show them the Armstrong solutions designed to withstand cold weather environments.

Armstrong solutions are ideal to warm up large facilities and provide safe operation near flammable or hazardous materials because they have no open flame. Plus, with our HotBreath™ Quick Ship Program, you can order up to 5 standard units for delivery within 5 business days! Check out the Armstrong Configurator for selection and pricing and contact the Armstrong Heat Transfer Group at 450-378-2655 for more information and application support.

For a refresher,
view our Temporary Heating Options webinar from December 9, 2020, where Mike Seagle, Marty Stevens, Sebastien Guay and guest speaker, Brian Pyke, discuss Armstrong's portable heaters for the HPI/CPI market. Please note that this webinar is intended for the Armstrong representative network only.

Jon Bingaman Retires After 41 Years

For more than 4 decades, Jon Bingaman has embodied the Armstrong motto – Knowledge Not Shared is Energy Wasted. From his early days as a technical trainer in Texas and Pennsylvania, to head of sales for the Armstrong Humidification Group, director of the Armstrong Global Steam and Condensate Group, and most recently, educational technical director, Jon has demonstrated passion, dedication, and generosity in sharing his knowledge with others.

In honor of Jon’s many accomplishments – including his recent creation of the “Low Load” and “Steam Tracing” demonstration boards, we have affectionately dedicated these “Bing Boards” as testimony to Jon’s example of living the Armstrong motto. Congratulations Jon and best wishes for a long and happy retirement!

Position the SAGE UMT® probe tip into the trap and apply about 5 pounds of force. Press and release the start button.

The testing scroll wheel will illuminate while the test is in progress (also view this in the SAGE® Mobile App). The testing scroll wheel will blink when complete and results can be viewed in the SAGE® Mobile App. Periodically clean the temp sensor lens.

Conduct Thermal Assessments by October 15 to Win An iPad

Thermal Assessments are a great way to uncover opportunities to improve the performance and efficiency of steam, hot water and condensate systems as well as their safety, reliability and integrity. Conducting a Thermal Assessment is easy too – especially when using the Thermal Assessment feature within SAGE®. View the Thermal Assessment in SAGE® tutorial and refer to these example mock assessments that represent a cross section of vertical markets:

As an added incentive, Armstrong will give a new Apple iPad to the representative that generates the most Thermal Assessments between now and October 15, 2021. Please submit your assessments to Nevena Iordanova by October 15th and we’ll notify the winner via email as the reports are tallied.
