Hot Water Group Showcases Its Sales Special Design FLEX-Ability

Featured this month is a DMC25 FLEX requested by Proctor Sales for a large school district in Washington state and modified to the customer’s specification to accomplish two things:
  1. Emergency Fixture (EF) zone coverage
  2. Zoned PHE re-heat
The DMC25 FLEX was modified with a pressure switch on the hot water supply inlet to conform to the Z358 standard for tempered control of emergency fixtures. To simplify the installation, a small brazed-plate PHE was deployed to manage the re-heat of that recirculated zone dedicated to serving emergency fixtures. This eliminated the need for an independent recirculation line to a distant mechanical room. Since the delivery setpoint for emergency fixtures is in the Legionella ideal growth range, the ability to manage continuous recirculation while preventing temperature creep is an application differentiator achievable only by The Brain® Digital Recirculation Valve. The continuous recirculation mitigates the stagnant water bio-film that harbors water-borne pathogens, and the last thing someone using an emergency fixture needs is an initial blast of scalding hot water or waiting for the system to temper down. This adds another intelligent solution to our digital temperature control toolbox.

Jose Orozco Named North America OEM Markets Director

Armstrong is pleased to announce Jose Orozco as our new North America OEM Markets Director. Jose will be reporting to Kyle Higginbotham.

Food for Thought: Matt Yatsula likes Emechs® on his Saltines and Club Crackers. What about you?

Kellogg reached out to Matt Yatsula, Power Equipment Company (TN) reporting numerous failures and constant maintenance on HAAS Intellifaucet Mixing Valves. The mixing valves are used to mix water in preparing dough for crackers (Saltines and Club) in batch processing. Saltines required fermentation and the Club crackers required less flow control. As a result, the Emech® E20W was selected based on GPM/Flow since the Intellifaucet couldn’t stand up to increasing demand for the product.

Primary Selling Point: The Saltine batch is sensitive to moisture and temperature and the Emechs® were able to provide the necessary drops at the right temperature. The E20W has run flawlessly since its installation more than one year ago and has the customer inquiring about more purchases. The plant has seen an increase in productivity (less maintenance time), process temperatures holding true and increased efficiency in their batch production.

In all, this site has purchased five (5) E20Ws with opportunities for more. Special note: While the HAAS Intellifaucet is less expensive compared to the E20W, the Emech doesn’t require a low price to be competitive. The proof is in its performance and customer satisfaction.

Put a Filter on It

If you have customers that direct inject steam (e.g., culinary) in their food processes, a properly sized steam filter and accessories are required to make it a complete system. Our filter kits include a separator, drip trap, strainer with blowdown valve, steam filter with .5μm sintered element, liquid drainer for the separator body and a differential pressure gauge to monitor pressure drop across the filter. View our Steam Filter Kit and watch this webinar Reintroduction to Steam Filters to learn more. Contact Jeremiah Mastny if you have further questions or need additional information.
