AIM ST5700 Is First Steam Trap Monitor To Be Wireless HART Certified

The Armstrong Intelligent Monitor (AIM) ST5700 has completed registration and is now certified by Fieldcomm for all Wireless HART certifications. The AIM ST5700 is the first steam trap monitor on the market to pass the certification and registration and will work properly with all Wireless HART instruments. There is currently no other steam trap monitor on the market that is certified by Fieldcomm with all Wireless HART certifications and registration. This makes the AIM ST5700 series the ideal solution for real time steam trap monitoring and a plug and play solution with Wireless HART. Please visit the Fieldcomm website for the official certification/registration package for the ST5700 and official Fieldcomm registry location.

Measure Flow From The Outside With No Shutdowns Or Interruptions

Did you know that the Armstrong VERIS Flow Measurement Group now has a way to read flow without cutting the pipe or shutting down the system?

Our new Armstrong AUF ultrasonic flow/BTU meters measure flow from the outside of the pipe using clamp-on transducers. There are many advantages to this technology. Non-invasive, no moving parts, no pressure loss, excellent turndown, inexpensive installation and startup, low cost of ownership, and portable capabilities. Speaking of portable capability, we also have a portable ultrasonic meter that is perfect for sizing Brains, hot water heaters, or as a quick verification that an ultrasonic meter would work in a certain application. Being outside the pipe, the coupling of the transducer to the pipe surface is critical for the meter to perform accurately.

We recommend every rep have a portable ultrasonic meter to demo for a customer. For more information or a quote, please contact your regional manager or the VERIS Flow Measurement Group.

North American Sales Team Changes

We are excited to announce several position changes that will strengthen our sales team and further our focus on continuous improvement.

Justin Grubka has accepted the Sales Manager position with Merlo Energy. Although we are sad to see him leave, we are happy to know he will be working with one of our top Representatives.

While we wait for spending to resume in Higher Ed markets, Andrew Witteck has accepted Justin's previous role of Director of Higher Education while still managing the Specialty Markets.

Hank Adams will assume the role of NA Director of Hospitality. Further, Hank has accepted the added responsibility of covering all government facilities, excluding VA Hospitals which Scott Jacobson will continue to handle.

To fulfill our agreement with Carotek, Jon Zoppa has accepted the role of Armstrong Technical Manager for North and South Carolina. He will be focusing on the Institutional Sector and will start this role on January 1, 2021.

Brian Nixon has previously accepted the role of Western Regional Manager. He will be managing our Representatives and ATMs in the west while focusing on the Institutional Sector. He will begin this role in early January 2021.

Food For Thought: New Steam Filter Kits Make A Great Christmas Gift

Wondering what to get your favorite customer for Christmas? How about one of our new Steam Filter Kits! If you have customers that direct inject steam (e.g., culinary) in their food processes, a properly sized steam filter and accessories are required to make it a complete system. Our filter kits include a separator, drip trap, strainer with blowdown valve, steam filter with .5μm sintered element, liquid drainer for use on the filter housing and a differential pressure gauge to monitor pressure drop across the filter. Don’t go to the G.L. Perry Variety Store or Ronco® to do your Christmas shopping! Get your Steam Filter Kit from Armstrong today. Contact Jeremiah Mastny for details.

2020 ASPE Digital Experience

The 2020 ASPE Convention & Expo which was to be held in New Orleans in September was cancelled. In the absence of this show, ASPE quickly developed the 2020 ASPE Digital Experience where Armstrong virtually exhibited during December 1-3. If you have not registered to participate in the Expo, please register now to gain access to our virtual booth and over 100 other exhibitors including competitors. The 2020 ASPE Digital Experience will be available to all registered attendees until January 31, 2021. We have accumulated numerous leads which will be managed through your ATM or if you don’t have one, we’ll be in direct contact with you.

Training The Tradespeople

One of the more important market segments to benefit from Armstrong training is tradespeople. Our North American Learning Center hosted three separate one day seminars in November. One for LU 174, a second for LU 357 and a third for a combination of members from both LU 174 and LU 357. In total, there were 45 participants from these Michigan union locals. Al Balcam, service instructor for both locals, has been bringing students to Armstrong every year for the past 10 years and he had this to say following the seminar:

“The training that you offer is top notch. Your instructors are very knowledgeable in steam….we try to incorporate a visit in your training center when in the classroom we are studying steam. It is helpful for the students that aren’t exposed to steam on a regular basis to get some hands on training. For the service techs, the steam trap testing part of the training is great. Also, the trap tear down is very helpful. For the building trades students, the piping and correct trap selection part of the class is very useful in their training.” Brad Savage of Merlo Energy, who helps organize the LU 357 training had this to say: “I call these ‘chamber of commerce’ days….very good for business. Several of the attendees spoke of this training as the best that they have had. Others spoke of the ‘light bulb’ going off on subjects that they hadn’t understood in the past.”

During this period of Covid influenced restrictions on access, remote training continues to be an option. Our Learning Center played host to a four hour remote training session for LU420 in Philadelphia earlier this year. Many of these attendees will grow to become increasingly influential throughout their careers and they’ll think of Armstrong as their solution provider.
