STEAM, AIR, AND HOT WATER EDITION

Teamwork Delivers A Unified Solution

What happens when the Hot Water Group collaborates with the Steam & Condensate Group?

A single-source hot water generation, precise digital temperature control, hot water system monitoring and reporting, PRV station and condensate pump assembly featuring performance-matched components guaranteed to work in concert with each other.

That is exactly what was assembled for a naval submarine base via a specifying engineer effort driven by team Carotek. The first skid comprised of a DF53540BS, featuring The Brain® Digital Recirculation Valve (DRV) and SAGE® hot water system monitoring and reporting. The second skid combined a DS-1 Steam separator and TVS811 drip trap on the steam supply to remove any entrained condensate from the supply steam. A 100 Mesh Y strainer was installed on its side ahead of the pressure reducing valve to improve valve performance. A GP-2000 pressure reducing valve that included an on/off solenoid valve was connected to an outlet pressure switch to shutdown steam supply on overpressure.

The pressure switch included a manual reset along with two sets of contacts, one for the solenoid shutdown and another for remote notification if desired. A closed loop SDD6 condensate steam trap and pump combination package will serve as both a steam trap and condensate pump to keep condensate drained from the water heater at all times. The SDD6 was installed as a closed loop package with the water heater allowing for higher temperature condensate to be returned under pressure eliminating any loss of energy from flashing steam. A combination thermostatic air vent and vacuum breaker was also integrated into the condensate package.

Congratulations to the team for bringing together a unified solution for the customer!

Flow Meaurement Consulting Engineers Webinar

What do consulting engineers look for when it comes to flow measurement? Accuracy is critical as specs have to be met, but at the same time, most applications rely on repeatability. Other important considerations include turndown, straight run, installation requirements, outputs, calibration, pros and cons of different technologies and of course, price is always a topic of discussion.

Learn more about what consulting engineers are looking for by attending the Flow Measurement Consulting Engineers Webinar on Tuesday, December 17 at 2:00pm (EST).

Turn Up The Heat With New 3 Row Duramix™

Armstrong Duramix™ heating coils combine the advantages of a face and by-pass system with the quality and heavy-duty construction that are part of every Armstrong coil. Now, there’s a new 3 row Duramix™ coil available. This new 3 row Duramix™ delivers extra heating capacity due to a higher Btu output afforded by an extra row. With the same dimensions as the standard 1 and 2 row units, for cost effective replacement of existing IFB coils, the new 3 row Duramix™ delivers maximum freeze protection, accurate temperature control and consistent leaving-air temperature while maintaining the same footprint. Contact the Armstrong Heat Transfer Group for more information.

Over The Top Performance

For the seventh year in a row, Affiliated Steam and Hot Water has earned the Crystal Award by exceeding sales expectations to become the #1 Rep firm for Fiscal 2019.
