Higher Ed Gains Valuable Lesson In Steam Trap Management

Colleges and universities pride themselves on continuous learning and when it comes to learning about steam systems, they turn to Armstrong International. Robert Lax, Central New York account manager for PCD/F.W. Webb Company, conducted a one-day steam trap training seminar on January 22 with 21 representatives from Syracuse University. The timing couldn’t have been better as Syracuse was experiencing steam losses after an unplanned outage and thought the issue stemmed from bad traps. With support from Armstrong Technical Manager Dan Patnode, Rob helped educate attendees that the issue was that the steam traps hadn’t been primed to function correctly. Using the Armstrong Steam Trap display, Rob demonstrated how steam traps function and showed the participants how to prime the traps to perform. It was a valuable lesson that will pay great dividends in the months and years ahead. Nice work Rob!

Process Air Heaters For Demanding Environments

Armstrong process air heaters are ideal for dryer applications such as conveyor dryers, spray dryers, flash dryers and fluid bed dryers found in power generation and pulp/paper plants. They are constructed of heavy-duty aluminum, copper, carbon and stainless steel and are able to withstand high pressure and high temperature environments. The removable coil (drawer type) design, makes them easy to clean and maintain. Armstrong can also design the units to provide your customers with more capacity to the dryer and increase the process output. Contact the Armstrong Heat Transfer Group at (450) 378-2655 for more information and to request a quote.

Measuring Success One University At A Time

The International District Energy Association (IDEA) Campus Energy Conference will be held February 26th thru March 1st and the Armstrong VERIS Flow Measurement Group will again be showcasing its knowledge to these campus utilities professionals. The conference will draw over 300 different universities to New Orleans. This conference has been a year after year success in highlighting our expertise in flow measurement and the depth of solutions offered by Armstrong International.

Armstrong 316 SS Recommended For NACE Applications

Last fall Armstrong released an all 316 SS version of our popular stainless steel 11-AV air vent and 11-LD liquid drainer. The new 316 SS design provides increased corrosion resistance for corrosive fluids and environments while also meeting requirements for areas where only 316 SS may be used such as in Food/Pharmaceutical and Hydrocarbon/Petrochemical applications. For National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) applications in place of the standard 304 SS, we recommend using the new 316 SS 11-AV/LD option.
