The Hamilton Engineering brand will remain independent and the company will operate as a subsidiary of Armstrong International – Hot Water Group, inclusive of its current management team. Additional details concerning the acquisition and future plans for integration will be made available in the coming months.

Measuring Condensate with Armstrong Vortex Meters

Traditionally in steam heating systems, metering is performed on the steam side. However, many customers measure their steam loads from the condensate side too. That’s because steam can be difficult to measure with extreme temperatures. Abrupt density changes with heating loads vary over a large range depending on the demands of the season. Measuring steam from the condensate side can also be less costly than measuring from the steam side because it’s a volumetric measurement. Armstrong Vortex meters are a perfect fit for these applications. They are typically installed on the pumped side of the condensate system right after the pumps on a vertical rise ensuring the pipe is always full. Because one pound of condensate is equal to one pound of steam, this is a very easy and cost-effective way to measure the steam usage with the availability to output the flow using an analog 4-20 mA signal, MODBUS or BACNET digital output signals. These are typical applications in Universities and Hospitals, however, they can also be applied to any steam system. Learn more about Armstrong Vortex Meters.

Steam System Management Pays

Increasing energy costs, CO2 allocations and the desire to remain competitive are just a few of the reasons why many manufacturers are focusing their attention on achieving greater efficiency of their steam systems. Customers know that driving efficient management of their steam trap system can result in significant and easily achievable savings. View this case study that illustrates the benefits of steam trap management and use it as a conversation starter with your customers.
